Since December 2022, the AFD Campus, the University of Paris 1 Panthéon – Sorbonne and the African Heritage School have mobilised a set of international partners and expertise to develop a new training and professional dialogue system dedicated to museums and African heritage.
The name of the project, Djowamon, literally means in Fongbé language, “what we came to see”. This unifying name reflects the notions of transmission, meanings, and connection with predecessors that this project on African heritage aims for. We only perceive what makes sense to us.
Supported by leading institutions and experts in heritage and digital learning, the training course produced is based on the content of the MOOC “Challenges and Perspectives of African Heritage” developed by the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and aims to dust off knowledge relating to museum and heritage practices, identify the main issues, and promote an African vision in its plurality.
