The convening’s opening event will take place inside the Iziko South African Museum’s Whale Well. An opportunity to network and engage with fellow delegates, panellists and speakers, the evening will include a performance by live-looping duo Ukhoikhoi. Their unique afro-futuristic sound, or “indigenous electro”, encompasses multilingual expressions through opera, indigenous chants and praise poetry. Ukhoikhoi uses a variety of traditional and contemporary instruments.
