Bradley Mottie

Conservator, Iziko Museums of South Africa

Bradley Mottie has acquired over 23 years’ experience as a Museum Conservator. He has attended many Professional Conservation Training interventions including, Metals Conservation, Paper Conservation, Ceramics Conservation, Preventive Conservation, Integrated Pest Management and a practical training Internship in Paper Conservation. At Iziko Museums of South Africa, he is responsible for the care of Collections, the monitoring of collections, the monitoring of climatic conditions, supervision of staff, the training of interns as well as the management and maintenance of the collections in the institution’s centralised storage facility, including collections on exhibition at the other eleven Iziko museum sites. Bradley was previously employed at the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport as a Senior Conservator, for approximately 10 years. He holds a BSc(Applied Nuclear Physics and Applied Geology (Engineering, Hydrology, Mining))as well as a BSc (Hon) in Applied Physics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Conservation Studies addressing the critical fields of Paper, Metals, Ceramics, Organic and Inorganic Material Artefacts and the Conservation of the Built Environment.
