Dr Wendy Black is currently the Chief Curator of Art and Social History at Iziko Museums of South Africa. After obtaining her PhD at the University of Cape Town in 2014, she took up the post of Curator of Archaeology at Iziko Museums. Here, she expanded on her research interests related to the population history and bioarchaeology of the indigenous hunter-gatherer people of southern Africa and helped develop an active and transformed Archaeology Unit at the museum. Her research interests are broadly related to population dynamics but more recently, Wendy has become involved with indigenous rights and transformation issues as they relate to ancestral remains held in museum collections, repatriation and restitution matters, and group representations within South African institutions.
